American Intelligence

Obviously this is the pick of the worst, but i don't think you'd have to look too hard to find 100 people with similar knowledge of world events on an street in America. Unfortunately they do seem to be worse than other countries in this respect. Many countries could be forvigevn for not having much knowledge of international politics or geography, but as the world's 'super'power, surely we'd expect more?

The problem, although obviously partly due to the education system, can probably be boiled down more to American media and the whole climate of 'dumbing down' for the 'average joe'. Americans are told to trust and support their government without question and it is made so much easier by the fact they already trust and support their religious leaders. Information isn't so much taught as disected, filled with what the leaders of religion and government want people to know, and then drip fed through the school system and national media until everyone is on the same, ignorant page.

This isn't an attack at American people, but an attack at American ways. The people need to realise it and do somehting about it! How about starting my learning to think rationally and logically and question everything until you're sure of the answer for yourself. Then in time wider knowledge and less dependence on religion and media will follow
